Machining of a Mahogany Aft Lay-Up Tool for the Aerospace Industry

Bren-Ko Patterns was contracted to fabricate an aft lay-up tool for a supplier to OEMs in the aerospace industry. The tool, highlighted here, would create carbon fiber jet engine parts. Utilizing advanced CNC machinery, mahogany wood was precision machined with routing and drilling processes into the specified profile while holding a tolerance of ± 0.005". Post machining sanding and sealing were then employed to finish the part. Thorough in process and post production visual and dimensional inspections were carried out to ensure accuracy and quality. This project was completed after a turnaround time of 3 weeks, and final measurements were of height of 3.78" and an outside diameter of 45.14".

Bren-Ko provides custom manufacturing of industrial patterns for customers across a spectrum of industries, employing state of the art equipment to provide accurate, repeatable, and cost effective solutions.
