Custom Machining of a Large Wooden Wheel

Bren-Ko Patterns is a recognized leader in the manufacturing of custom foundry patterns for a range of industries and applications, as well as providing a host of ancillary value added manufacturing services. In the project highlighted here, Bren-Ko was commissioned to fabricate a large wooden wheel. Utilizing advanced in-house CNC machinery, the wheel was precision machined from white maple wood with turning and milling processes. A tight tolerance of ± 0.125" was held throughout. The wheel was assembled into its final configuration and full dimensional and visual inspections were carried out to ensure accuracy and quality. Finished dimensions were 115.015" in diameter and a length of 72.500".
